They meet in the Jury room of the Courthouse on the first Friday morning of each month except January at 10:00am to about 12 Noon. The only cost for attending is the purchase of a cup of coffee. Any members of the club with an interest in shares would be most welcome to join our meetings.

They discuss how to invest money on the Stock Exchange, but will be dealing in phantom shares, NOT REAL shares.

STOCKBROKER VISIT

REPORT

On the 6th of May nineteen of our members travelled as a group by train to Melbourne to attend an Investment Seminar conducted specifically for us by stockbroking firm Patterson Securities.

The seminar was very professionally presented and we were provided with a wide range of information about current trends in the stock market. We also enjoyed an excellent sandwich lunch provided by Patterson Securities.

The regular monthly meeting of the Group was held the next day at The Courthouse when we reviewed and discussed much of the information gleaned at the seminar.

The next meeting is on Friday 4 June at 10.00am at The Courthouse. Regards,

Geoff Willingham

19 of our members boarded the train some at Warragul and the others at Drouin Railway Stations.

We then travelled to Flinders Street and walked up to 333 Collins Street , when we walked in the beautiful foyer it looked familiar. We went in there on the Walking Groups Golden Mile walk. A coffee was in order as we had some time to spare.

After coffee we took the lift to the 15th floor and were shown into one of Paterson’s board rooms and were given a 12 trays of lovely sandwiches with a choice of many different fillings.

After we had eaten all that we could (we left more than half of them) we sat down at the enormous table and were shown a very comprehensive PowerPoint Presentation about investing money. All in all, a very good day for anyone interested in finance, shares and the likes.

After that we caught the train back home.

(6/11/09) meeting 13 members attended and discussed a range of issues relating to investing in shares. The Phantom Portfolio is still in profit but not to the extent of a month ago. Some members whose stock in the Portfolio is in profit are considering taking their "pretend" gain and buying another share to see if they can continue to make money.
